Parece mentira, pero sí… ¡ya llegó el momento! Nuestros estudiantes de octavo grado están a punto de dejar PSMS para comenzar una nueva aventura: ¡la High School! Después de años de tareas, proyectos de ciencias hechos a última hora, filas en la cafetería, exámenes sorpresa, FAST interminables, y muchísimos recuerdos, toca decir adiós, aunque sea en realidad un “nos vemos pronto”.
Además, todas las mantarayas se preparan para disfrutar sus merecidas vacaciones de verano, ya que no tendrán que volver a la Escuela hasta el 10 de agosto, para arrancar otro excitante curso escolar. Pero, volviendo a los alumnos de último curso, hoy viernes recibirán el tradicional «Clap Out», una ovación de todos los estudiantes, maestros y resto de personal, para darles la despedida que se merecen, ¡les deseamos mucho éxito!
Los estudiantes de sexto y séptimo hacemos un pasillo, preparamos nuestro confeti, así como carteles para apoyar a nuestros compañeros para emprender con energía esta nueva aventura. Aunque no nos gustan las despedidas, un montón de nuevos retos nos esperan en el horizonte a todos los estudiantes, sean de “Octavo” o no, empezando por la primera de nuestras metas, ¡disfrutar de unos meses de descanso!
Para muchos, entrar en High School parece algo enorme. Y la verdad es que sí: hay campus más grandes, más estudiantes, más actividades, pero también más oportunidades. Pero también es una etapa súper emocionante donde cada uno empieza a descubrir qué le gusta y qué quiere hacer en el futuro.
¿Cómo elegir tu escuela secundaria?
En la zona de Palm Springs y Palm Beach County hay muchísimas opciones interesantes para continuar estudiando. Una de las más conocidas es John I. Leonard High School, famosa por sus programas académicos y actividades deportivas y artísticas. También destacan Palm Beach Central High School, Santaluces Community High School y Park Vista Community High School, cada una con academias especializadas, clubes y deportes para todo tipo de intereses.
¿Te gusta la medicina? ¿La tecnología? ¿El arte? ¿La cocina? ¿La televisión? Muchas High School ofrecen academias especiales donde los estudiantes pueden empezar a prepararse para carreras reales desde muy jóvenes. Así que sí, el futuro empieza antes de lo que parece.
Consejos para sobrevivir a la «Middle School»:
Para los mantarrayas que se quedan en la Escuela, y futuros estudiantes de octavo, tomen nota:
- No dejes los proyectos para el último día. (Sí, todos dicen eso, porque es verdad, ¡ no seamos procrastinadores!)
- Participa en actividades escolares aunque te dé un poco de vergüenza al principio.
- Haz amigos nuevos.
- Pregunta cuando no entiendas algo.
- Y muy importante: disfruta el año. Octavo pasa rapidísimo ツ
Nuestros chicos de “8” cierran una etapa increíble y comienzan a escribir una nueva aventura. Han crecido muchísimo, superando cada desafío con esfuerzo y valentía. Al dar este paso hacia la High School recuerden que todo lo que han aprendido aquí es solo el comienzo. sigan siendo curiosos, luchen por sus sueños y confíen en el gran potencial que cada uno posee. No te pierdas las dedicatorias que los mantarrayas le han dejado a todos los estudiantes que nos dejan:

Y recuerden: aunque cambien de escuela, siempre serán parte de nuestra «Stingray nation». Los de «Octavo» fueron nuestra inspiración, ¡buena suerte, «Class of 2026»!

It seems unbelievable, but yes… the moment has finally arrived! Our eighth-grade students are about to leave PSMS to begin a new adventure: High School! After years of homework, last-minute science projects, cafeteria lines, pop quizzes, endless FASTs, and countless memories, it’s time to say goodbye, even if it’s really just a “see you soon”.
Furthermore, all the students are getting ready to enjoy their well-deserved summer holidays, as they won’t have to return to school until August 10th to begin another exciting school year. But, turning back to the graduating seniors, today, Friday, they will receive the traditional «Clap Out», a standing ovation from all the students, teachers, and staff, to give them the send-off they deserve. We wish them all the best!
The sixth and seventh graders formed a corridor, prepared our confetti, and made signs to support our classmates as they embarked on this new adventure with energy. Although we don’t like goodbyes, a lot of new challenges await all of us students, whether we’re in eighth grade or not, starting with our first goal: enjoying a few months of rest!
For many, entering High School seems like a huge undertaking. And it’s true: there are bigger campuses, more students, more activities, but also more opportunities. But it’s also a super exciting time where everyone starts to discover what they like and what they want to do in the future.
How to choose your «High School»?
The Palm Springs and Palm Beach County area offers many exciting options for continuing education. One of the best known is John I. Leonard High School, renowned for its academic programs and athletic and artistic activities. Other notable schools include Palm Beach Central High School, Santaluces Community High School, and Park Vista Community High School, each with specialized academies, clubs, and sports to suit a wide range of interests.
Do you like medicine? Technology? Art? Cooking? Television? Many High School offer special academies where students can start preparing for real careers from a very young age. So yes, the future starts sooner than you think.
Tips for surviving «Middle School»
For all the students staying in school, and future eighth graders, take note:
- Don’t leave projects until the last minute. (Yes, everyone says that, because it’s true—let’s not procrastinate!)
- Participate in school activities even if you’re a little embarrassed at first.
- Make new friends.
- Ask questions when you don’t understand something.
- And very importantly: enjoy the year. Eighth grade flies by! ツ
Our 8th graders are closing an incredible chapter and beginning a new adventure. They’ve grown so much, overcoming every challenge with effort and courage. As they take this step into High School, remember that everything they’ve learned here is just the beginning. Stay curious, fight for your dreams, and believe in the great potential each of you possesses. Don’t miss the dedications that the manta rays have left for all the students who are leaving us:
