La «Herencia Hispana» está de vuelta

Queridos mantarrayas, por fin pasó la semana de los exámenes, y como todo tiene su recompensa, a mediados de septiembre llega por fin el momento de divertirse con motivo del «Mes de la Herencia Hispana», pero, ¿qué celebramos?

Se trata de un mes para honrar la historia, la cultura y las contribuciones de las comunidades hispanas y latinas a los Estados Unidos. También se celebra la independencia de algunos países, además de reivindicar rasgos de diferentes tradiciones como trajes, comidas o bailes típicos. Su lema: «Patrimonio colectivo que honra el pasado e inspira el futuro». Pero, ¿conoces la diferencia entre ser latino e hispano? Además si no sabes como celebrar las ricas y diversas contribuciones de la comunidad latina y hispana en Estados Unidos, desde sus logros en el arte, la ciencia y los negocios hasta su profundo impacto en la historia y la cultura del país, aquí os dejamos algunas «tips» de por qué y cómo honrar la herencia de 19 países, celebrar sus tradiciones, su música, su gastronomía y, sobre todo, su resiliencia, un papel fundamental en el progreso de la nación.

Busca y apoya empresas locales propiedad de hispanos para fortalecer la comunidad, descubre artistas latinos, escucha música tradicional y moderna de origen distinto o degusta platillos tradicionales de cualquiera de sus países.

¿Por qué es tan importante?

Porque su presencia se remonta a siglos atrás y han sido fundamentales en el desarrollo del país.

Y, volviendo a lo que nos ocupa, aunque su celebración se extiende desde el 15 de septiembre hasta el 15 de octubre, ya os hablamos de su origen en un artículo del año pasado, en la Escuela le hemos dedicado una semana especial para festejar su espíritu para este curso escolar, ¡no te pierdas todo lo qué nos viene!

El lunes 6 de octubre nos podremos vestir de nuestro personaje favorito de la infancia, el martes 7 es la fiesta del ranchero, ponte tu mejor atuendo de vaquero, el miércoles 8 podrás representar la cultura de tu país con banderas o pinturas, el jueves 9 puedes traer una camisa de fútbol o béisbol de tu equipo favorito y, por último, el viernes 10 puedes vestirte igual con tu persona favorita y, lo más importante, ¡habrá rumba en el patio! Sal a comer y baila con tus amigos y disfruta de un espectáculo de baile especial y sobre todo, pásala bien, ¡pero no olvides no descuidar tus grados!

Todas las culturas hispanas son bellas, con diferentes maneras de celebrar culturas, y tradiciones pero, lo más importante, ¡nuestra diversidad nos hace únicos!
Parece que la diversión está asegurada, así que no te pierdas esta oportunidad. Te animamos a participar en estos eventos y tomar parte en la celebración del patrimonio, la cultura y la unidad. ¡Unámonos para reconocer las vibrantes contribuciones de la comunidad hispana y honrar la belleza de la diversidad!

Dear manta rays, exam week is finally over, and since everything has its reward, mid-September finally brings the time to have fun with «Hispanic Heritage Month». But what are we celebrating?

It’s a month to honor the history, culture, and contributions of the Hispanic and Latino communities to the United States. It also celebrates the independence of some countries, in addition to highlighting aspects of different traditions such as traditional costumes, foods, and dances. Its motto: «Collective heritage that honors the past and inspires the future». But do you know the difference between being Latino and Hispanic? Our #lavozdeisa teammate Shanely Garcia clarifies it for you in this beautiful infographic.

And if you’re not sure how to celebrate the rich and diverse contributions of the Latino and Hispanic community in the United States—from their achievements in art, science, and business to their profound impact on the country’s history and culture—here are some «tips» on why and how to honor the heritage of 19 countries, celebrating their traditions, music, cuisine, and, above all, their resilience, a fundamental role in the nation’s progress.

And, getting back to the topic at hand, although the celebration runs from September 15th to October 15th, and we already told you about its origins in an article last year, our school has dedicated a special week to celebrate its spirit for this academic year. Don’t miss out on everything we have coming up!

On Monday, October 6th, we can dress up as our favorite childhood character; Tuesday, October 7th, it’s the Ranchero Festival, so put on your best cowboy outfit; on Wednesday, October 8th, you can represent your country’s culture with flags or paintings; on Thursday, October 9th, you can bring a football or baseball shirt from your favorite team; and finally, on Friday, October 10th, you can dress up like your favorite person. And, most importantly, there will be a party in the courtyard! Go out to eat and dance with your friends, enjoy a special dance show, and above all, have a good time, but don’t forget to keep up with your grades!

All Hispanic cultures are beautiful, with different ways of celebrating cultures and traditions, but most importantly, our diversity makes us unique!
It seems like fun is guaranteed, so don’t miss this opportunity. We encourage you to participate in these events and take part in the celebration of heritage, culture, and unity. Let’s join together to recognize the vibrant contributions of the Hispanic community and honor the beauty of diversity!
